Matthew J. Uselman

With over 35 years of experience, Matt Uselman has dedicated his professional life to the ever-evolving financial services and payment processing industries. For over a decade, Matt worked as the executive vice president of Firstar Bank, where he was responsible for institutional trust services. After working in corporate banking for many years, Matt identified a huge gap in the level of service provided to customers by many payment services companies. He and brother-in-law, Mark Courchane aimed to fill that gap by creating a company where its core foundation was to treat customers as if they were family. Thus, Wind River was formed in 1999.
Matt is fulfilling his desire to build a multi-generational, family-owned, company that provides outstanding payment services to customers large and small. Matt continues to share his financial services expertise and experience in his role as chief sales leader for merchant services, integrated payment solutions, and bank partnerships. This allows him the opportunity to mentor the next generation of payment professionals and work with many different types of customers – from traditional merchants to independent software vendors (ISVs) to strategic bank partners.
As a University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni, Matt has stayed actively involved in the community and strongly believes in giving back. Previously, Matt served as the President of the Madison Breakfast Rotary, served on the Edgewood College Business School Advisory Board, and was a Member of the Small Business Advisory Council of the Greater Madison Area Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Matt serves on the Board of Advisors for Coaches versus Cancer, a program in conjunction with the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society, aimed at defeating cancer.
In his free time, you can find Matt spending time with his ever-growing family or enjoying the great-Wisconsin outdoors!
