We wanted to take a moment to reflect on the many things to be thankful for – things that could have easily been taken for granted in prior years.
Ranking right at the top of our list of what we’re thankful for are the small businesses throughout our communities. According to the Small Business Administration, more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business. They truly are the backbone of our communities, economy and our country.
2020 has been quite a year. We’ve seen and worked to assist small businesses ramp up their alternative channels of commerce. They’ve had to adapt quickly beyond bricks and mortar to add curbside pick-up, online ordering, doorstep delivery and other touchless purchase options. It’s been a year of ingenuity and creativity, and we believe small businesses deserve both our praise and our patronage.
For the last decade, the Saturday after Thanksgiving has been designated “Small Business Saturday.” Consumers are encouraged to go out in their communities and shop small businesses to kick off the holiday season. But because this year is unlike any other year in recent memory, we’d like to see that concept taken a step further. What if we all deemed November 27-December 24th Small Business Season? Better yet, let’s open it up to Small Business 2021!
Whether it is shopping in-store, online, or by phone, let’s all make a concerted effort to support the small businesses in our neighborhoods. After all, they employ our friends, our neighbors, and our family members. Helping them thrive this season and in the coming year helps us all.
We would be remiss if we didn’t express that we at Wind River are truly thankful for each and every one of you, our customers. You are our lifeblood. You are why we do what we do. You’re why our After the Handshake promise is so important to our core philosophy. It’s the work you do supporting YOUR customers and YOUR local communities that drives us to be better.
Our employees are our greatest asset, and we wouldn’t be a fraction of the company we are without their efforts. Over the course of this year, our employees have stepped up and continued to deliver the exceptional service and quality of work they’ve always been known for. Whether remote or in-office, they’ve carried on in a truly remarkable fashion. Our employees inspire us daily, and they’re why we strive to be the best employer we can be.
So again, thank you to all our customers, thank you to our employees, and thank you to all the small businesses out there. May you all have a wonderful, healthy holiday season.
